Rock It! Jane Gowans Gold Matilda Ring

Tuesday, 12 May 2015

In the midst of the stacking/layering jewellery phase we've encountered and embraced in the last several decades or so we are now seeing jewellery designers subtly veering away from this craze (the necessity of purchasing additional jewellery to create the desired effect) to design a piece with an all-in-one approach. This Gold Matilda statement ring from Jane Gowans Matchsticks collection is one of a few ingenious examples of successfully achieving this concept. This exciting geometric-inspired handmade ring reminds me of a contemporary sculpture you see in modern art galleries and provokes abstract curiosity, evoking images of head casually leaned to the side and pondering the thoughts of the creator. It has a hint of playfulness with its imperfectly stacking aesthetic whilst remaining clean and orderly simultaneously.

From a seemingly ordinary and humble idea transformed into an extraordinary wearable art, it is to be enjoyed everyday, for every occasion.

Stack-O-Metre Bracelet Edition: How high can you go?

Tuesday, 23 July 2013

My love for stackable jewellery trend is well and truly documented on this blog and on instagram. Gold against silver, dainty against the bulk, refined against the rough and texture against the smoothness, the more we diversify the composition the better. Layering jewellery upon jewellery provides us a sense of individuality that no one else is wearing the very same piece. Sure you might be able to spot an odd H&M bangle here and there but by piling on the layers the style is entirely of your own creation. We layer depending on our moods, our spontaneity and our sense of adventure. We layer to build a chapter to create a story. Is there a limit to how many you can stack? The real question is, how far can you go?

More is more, layer it up Delta!

There is no such thing as too much. I adore how Delta Goodrem layered her jewellery here and it hits the spot when it comes to the layered jewellery trend.

Without running the risk of looking too overburden, the only statement piece of jewellery that stood out immediately is her long dangling multi-layered earring (as opposed to two) and that is despite seeing at least 17 different combinations of jewellery here. She kept the necklaces dainty, consistent and at different lengths so it doesn't interfere with the earring. Additionally, the monochrome outfit is brightened up by the textured, colourful bracelets and chunky rings, altering the look from work smart to photographically stylish.
